Jesus said he want us to have a rich and satisfying life. What does this look like? The Greek word life in John 10:10 means divine, eternal and abundant. The word abundant in John 10:10 in Greek is perissos. It means more than enough. It can also mean extraordinary in quality or quantity. Jesus wants us to have a divine eternal and extraordinary life. The thing is it is not what we think. Jesus told us time and time again to lay down our life to find it. To take up our cross and follow him. How does this lead to an abundant life? First, we have to remember Jesus is an eternal God. He first and foremost come to give us life eternal. He wants us to live with him for all eternity. He wants us to find our life in him not in this world. He wants us to lay down our lives for other just as he did. This is why what we do as mothers, wives daughters and so on matters. This is why hospitality matters. This is where we become servants just as he did. Our abundant life is found in serving others, giving of our time, resources and whatever God has given. So lively living is giving, serving and following Jesus.
